WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING YOUR AGE?
I am more confident at age 40 than at any other age. I have come out of my shell (painfully shy during childhood) through the help of my career and my side hobby of selling makeup online.

DO YOU LIKE BEING 40+?
So far, I have found no downside to turning 40! (other than starting cholesterol meds). I am content with my career, friendships, family, and lifestyle. At 40, I feel like you focus on living your life and care less about what others think.

WHEN IN YOUR LIFE, SO FAR, HAVE YOU FELT MOST CONFIDENT, AND WHY?
I am more confident now at 40 than probably ever before. I was very shy growing up, kept myself in a bubble, so to speak, and struggled with social anxiety. This kept me from experiencing a lot of things and kept my friend circle very small. My career and interests in adulthood have expanded my social circle and made me much more confident in myself. Through my Farmasi makeup hobby, I have met women from all over the US whom I now consider close friends. I NEVER would have put myself out there like that when I was younger.

WHAT BRINGS YOU THE MOST JOY AT THIS AGE?
Quality time with my husband, kids, and family brings me joy. I love being able to attend their sporting events with my parents. Seeing my kids develop their interests and talents is my greatest joy.

WHAT IS YOUR SUPERPOWER?
My superpower is helping athletes turn around a negative mindset in 5 sessions or less.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
My greatest professional achievement was opening my own counseling practice in 2019. I have done this myself, and I do the scheduling, billing, credentialing, and therapy. It is a busy, thriving practice, and I love it. Of course, my greatest personal achievement is my children! I’m very proud of them.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST EXTRAVAGANCE?
I love massages, and I get them regularly to help with the back pain that comes from sitting all day long during therapy sessions. And, of course, Farmasi makeup… It’s so good!

WHAT IS YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION?
Right now, my treasure is my horse, Misty Blue. I had wanted a horse my whole life, but I had only taken some lessons. I finally bought myself a horse in my late 30s; it is my therapy!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
Owning a horse of my own!! And learning more about horsemanship than I ever thought I could.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS?
My idea of perfect happiness is spending quality time with family on vacation without distractions, worries, or stressors.

WHAT IS A TRAIT YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF?
I am proud to be compassionate. I truly feel my clients feel my compassion and care for them.

WHAT HARDSHIPS HAVE YOU ENDURED THAT YOU FEEL HAVE MADE YOU STRONGER?
Going through a divorce and having to rely on myself to keep myself afloat made me stronger. Starting a business of my own when I never thought I could do it!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
Be more confident and care less about what others think of you.

DO YOU HAVE ANY WORDS OF WISDOM FOR YOUNGER WOMEN?
Be true to yourself and your goals. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind or set your boundaries with people.

WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO OR FAVORITE QUOTE?
The Art of Love is Largely the Art of Persistence. (by a famous psychologist). One thing my grandfather always used to say is Never Forget Whose You Are and Who You Are (meaning God’s first and a Courter/Armstrong second).

WHAT DO YOU MOST VALUE IN YOUR FRIENDS?
I value friends who check in. Friends that make time in their busy lives to make you a part of it!

HOW DID YOU CHANGE OVER THE YEARS?
I have become more confident in myself, less shy, and learned to take better self-care.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I would still want to be less reserved in a group setting OR be able to sing really well.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS?
I hope that future generations can learn to rely more on faith and God. This affects so many things, including marriages and divorce rates. You cannot expect a Godly marriage (one of loyalty, trust, faithfulness, and respect) without a Godly partner. Our lives are so busy, and we prioritize so many things over Him. Get your worship and praise in any way you can!

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?
Doing this project is just more step in building my confidence to pursue my career goals and take my practice in the direction I want it to go!
