“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life Is about creating yourself.”
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING YOUR AGE?
I like being able to look back at what I have accomplished and overcome and look forward to what the future holds. Reaching my 40s has really opened my eyes to the bigger picture in life.
WHAT HARDSHIPS HAVE YOU ENDURED THAT YOU FEEL HAVE MADE YOU STRONGER?
Losing my dad was the biggest hardship I have ever faced. I still miss him every single day. It doesn’t get easier; you just figure out how to keep going.
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
My family. We are a team.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST EXTRAVAGANCE?
LOL… It’s my hair stylist, Meghan. Mary Kate & Co. Salon on West Central is my happy place. Oh, and doing this photo shoot. I still can’t believe I am putting myself out there.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION?
My wedding ring. Enough said.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING YOU HAVE CHECKED OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
Taking the boys snow skiing. We took them skiing over the last year. It was on my husband’s birthday and a bucket list item for him. That’s why it was so special.
WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS?
Being in the Colorado mountains with my whole family by my side while relaxing and watching them fish.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
I would keep it simple and say: Don’t stress … it’s all going to be alright.
DO YOU HAVE ANY WORDS OF WISDOM FOR YOUNGER WOMEN?
Don’t sweat the petty stuff.
WHAT IS A TRAIT YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF?
My ability to be positive.
WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO OR FAVORITE QUOTE?
“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life Is about creating yourself.” George Bernard Shaw
WHAT DO YOU MOST VALUE IN YOUR FRIENDS?
By far, it’s honesty.
HOW DID YOU CHANGE OVER THE YEARS?
I think age helps put into perspective what truly matters in life.
IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I would be healthier – so that I can live longer.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS?
I hope that they don’t lose sight of what’s important.
WHAT BRINGS YOU THE MOST JOY AT THIS AGE?
My family. I love being around my kids, my boys, who are 20 and 14. They are so fun to watch and listen to; it’s really where I get the most joy. I have also found a renewed relationship with my husband. We are navigating life more together; we function more as a team now than when the kids were younger.
WHAT IS YOUR SUPERPOWER?
True and unwavering grit.
DO YOU LIKE BEING 40+?
I have enjoyed being in my 40s. I see life much clearer and am really learning what’s truly important to me.
WHEN IN YOUR LIFE, SO FAR, HAVE YOU FELT MOST CONFIDENT, AND WHY?
Honestly, this depends on the day. If I am having a “top of the world” day, I would say that it’s now. I know more about who I am and what I want out of life now than ever before. This gives me a different type of confidence in comparison to my 20s and 30s.
