I didn’t grow up celebrating Thanksgiving, it’s just not a holiday we celebrate in Holland. But after living in the US for a couple of years the holiday has grown on me. Getting together with family on this special day feels like an early and extra day of Christmas. I like the fact that people take extra care of their dinner and they enjoy their dinnertime as a family. To me that feels like home, if there’s one thing I learned growing up, it’s important to spend time with family and enjoy meals together.
This morning I was reading a blog where people wrote about what they are thankful for and it got me thinking about my list that I’m thankful for, so here goes:
I am thankful for…
… my amazing husband, he supports and loves me unconditionally. He believes in me and pushes me when I need it and besides that he’s just absolutely perfect for me!!
… my family at home, even though we live 6793 kilometers (4221 miles) from each other I don’t feel the distance.
… spending Christmas with our family this year, it will be a first since many years and I’m looking forward to it.
… Skype, I’d have a huge phone bill without it 😉
… being able to live the live that we do, we get to travel a lot, see so much of the world and meet fantastic people everywhere. And even though the road isn’t always as smooth, I am thankful for the lessons learned getting here.
… my amazing job, I have had several different jobs in the past but never ever one that I enjoy this much.
… my wonderful clients, I feel blessed for the opportunity to work for you!!
… my fantastic photography friends all over the world for inspiring me.
… my Nespresso coffee (you didn’t think I’d forget about my coffee here did you).
… wool socks, yep my feel get cold this time of the year.
… this amazing chocolate fudge recipe that I just recently discovered on the internet, check it out, it’s really really good 🙂
If you’re celebrating Thanksgiving today, I wish you and your family a fabulous holiday!!
What are you thankful for??
